Mehta Orthodontics Has Re-Opened

The Australian Dental Association and Australian Government have recommended that all restrictions placed on dental practices be reduced to implement Level 2 Restrictions. This means that we can deliver ongoing orthodontic services to our patients.

While there are still some restrictions regarding the types of procedures we can perform, we can begin seeing patients again. We will be in touch with you as soon as possible to schedule your appointment if it was cancelled during this time.

The changes in restrictions still limit the use of aerosol producing procedures such as removal of braces and other orthodontic appliances and the use of ultrasonic scalers.

We have made some changes in the way that we will deliver our care to protect your health and safety during your visit. We ask that when visiting our practice, please observe the health and safety information displayed and follow the directions of practice staff.

Who We Can and Can’t Treat

To ensure the safety of everyone attending the clinic, there will be some patients we can’t treat.

It’s important that patients and visitors DO NOT ATTEND the clinic if:

  • You have tested positive for COVID-19
  • You haven’t been tested but have symptoms of COVID-19, a cold or flu-like symptoms or a fever.
  • You have been in close contact with someone who has a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19.
  • You have returned from overseas travel in the last 14 days and are in self-isolation

We will be contacting patients and parents the day before their appointment via email, to pre-screen for symptoms and exposure. This form will need to be completed before we can see you in the clinic. If you answered ‘YES’ to any of the questions, your appointment will need to be rescheduled.

On arrival, please be advised that we wish you to come as close to your appointment time as possible and abide by the social distancing rules of remaining 1.5 metres apart. For parents of patients, you may choose to sit on the lounges outside the clinic or remain in the car where possible and we will call or talk to you regarding the treatment and next visit after the appointment.

To keep traffic through the clinic to a minimum, please do not bring any additional family members (such as siblings) to the appointments if possible.

We would ask all patients to consider brushing their teeth at home before attending to minimise use of the tooth brush areas.

It is advised that patients bring along their own eyewear (glasses or sunglasses) to help minimise contact.

We have implemented enhanced sterilisation protocols with special gowns over our uniforms, including hair nets and protective eyewear along with masks and gloves. Our staff will be temperature tested before they start work and when they finish to ensure everyone’s safety.

You will notice that the contact surfaces in and around the clinic and waiting room will be more regularly cleaned and there will be hand sanitiser readily available for patients in the clinic and waiting room.

You will also notice the chairs, magazines, check in computer and ipads have been removed from the waiting room to minimise the spread of the virus.

We look forward to welcoming you back to your next appointment and hope that you will help us embrace the “new normal”.
